This book narrates a critical chapter in the history of Christianity, when the teachings of John Wycliffe and Martin Luther lit the flame of reformation, heralding a dramatic shift in European religious and intellectual landscapes. It delves into the theological debates, political machinations, and the deep personal journeys that shaped the course of Christianity, shedding light on the complexities of faith, the nature of truth, and the indomitable spirit of those who dared to challenge the status quo. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

When I recall to mind how the bright and blissful Befor mation (by Difine power) struck through the black and settled night of ignorance and antichristian tyranny, me thinks a sovereign and reviving joy must needs rush into the bosom of him that reads or bears; and the sweet odour of the returning Gospel embathe his soul with the fragrancy of heaven. Then was the sacred Bible sought out of the dusty corners where profane falsehood and neglect had thrown it; the schools Opened; divine and human learning raked out of forgotten tongues; the princes and critics trooping apace to the new-erected banner Of salvation; the martvrs, with the unresistible might of weakness, shaking the powers Of darkness and scorning the fiery rage of the oc red dragon. - milton.
