Paperback. It began innocently enough. A press conference at the NYPD. Which led to Halliday. Who might be an outlaw. And now she's blown Halliday's operation literally sky high. Manhattan, 1937. Society page reporter, Laura van Duyn, finds more than she bargained for after attending a bungled press conference given by Detective Fenton Hardy of the NYPD. Following a late-night car chase, with Laura at the wheel, she plunges headlong into adventure, chasing down the mysterious Halliday and the brutal thug, Bruno, while trying to stay a step ahead of the intrepid Detective Hardy and fend off her overprotective parents. From New York to a hidden, idyllic valley, to a dirigible, high over the storm-tossed Atlantic, Laura's adventures lead her into a life she could never have imagined would be possible.
