About this Item

Under the nom-de-plume of Crowquill, Forrester (1804-92) was a prolific contributor to Punch, and a comic illustrator in the tradition of George Cruikshank. His adornments to the Tales of Munchausen, Dickens's Pickwick Papers, and the works of his brother Charles Henry Forrester were widely reprinted. This profusely illustrated volume includes satirical studies on the philosophy of law, sleep, marriage, money, horse racing, smoking, drinking, fighting, and punning. It does not appear to have been published in England. A very good copy in decorated red cloth. Bookseller Inventory # 9618
