Paperback. Things at Sam's house were not as they seemed. A mysterious darkness threatened her family, leaving fifteen-year old Sam bewildered and afraid. Her father, an airline pilot, and her mother, a nurse, fought constantly, usually about money. There was never enough, especially in affluent Palos Verdes, California, where conspicuous spending was a way of life. But something else was going on, too. Suddenly, Sam's father had way too much money, and his explanations didn't add up. Sam's best friend, Emma, lived next door. Her father, an aerospace engineer, and her mother, an attorney, seemed to have an idyllic marriage. Emma's house became a refuge for Sam as the tension and conflict between her parents escalated. Uncertain where to turn for help, Sam confided her fears to Emma. Together they uncovered secrets that would forever alter the course of their lives. This item is printed on demand.
