Finding decodable children's chapter books for older striving readers that are both engaging and age-appropriate for striving and struggling readers, dyslexic students, and older kids can be challenging. The right books that match a child’s reading skills help build a lifelong love of reading.

Simple Words Books are high-interest/low readability (hi-lo), phonics-based chapter books designed for struggling readers, reluctant early readers, and students with dyslexia. Every story is carefully crafted to improve fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, and comprehension while boosting confidence. Our chapter books range from 2,000 to 10,000+ words.

Our “big-kid” early decodable chapter books, readers, and story collections align with many major structured literacy programs and have controlled vocabulary, making them a perfect supplement for classrooms, reading intervention, homeschooling, tutoring, and independent reading.

Our dyslexia-friendly books include a detailed word list by phonics skill at the back of each book. This makes it easier to match each title with the skills the reader is explicitly taught.
