No Stock Photos! We photograph every item. Volume 6 of the Pictorial Library of Eastern Church Art, on the iconography of the Last Supper and the Communion of the Apostles in Eastern Christian art. Klaus Wessel, the Byzantine art historian, traces how the supper was pictured from the early church through the Byzantine and Russian icon traditions, illustrated throughout in colour and monochrome plates; the title-page plate is The Holy Supper, a sixteenth-century Russian icon. Translated from the German by Giovanni Rossetti and Marguerite Buchloh, the original edition published as Abendmahl und Apostelkommunion. Published by Aurel Bongers of Recklinghausen, printed in West Germany, and distributed in the United States by Taplinger Publishing Company, 1964. Good condition. Ex-library, with the usual internal markings including a blind-embossed institutional stamp and a pencilled call number, and there is a small square of damage to the front illustration. Light edge wear. No jacket.
