⭐ "A tender-hearted tale... will make anyone grieving a loss feel a little less alone." - BookLife
What do you do when your best friend grows old?
From playful puppy days in Hollywood to one final snoot boop, One Last Snoot Boop is a heartfelt children's book about the love we share with our dogs - and the heartbreak of saying goodbye.
Cuthbert is mischievous, loyal, funny, and always by JJ and Matt's side. Through daily walks, couch cuddles, and years of unforgettable memories, he becomes more than a pet - he becomes family.
But as Cuthbert begins to slow down with age, JJ and Matt must face one of life's hardest moments: helping a child understand the loss of a beloved dog.
Written in warm, comforting rhyme and paired with gentle watercolor illustrations, One Last Snoot Boop helps children process grief, celebrate happy memories, and understand that love never truly leaves us.
Perfect for families coping with pet loss, this compassionate story creates a safe and loving space for conversations about grief, remembrance, and healing.
Early readers praise the book for helping children talk openly about loss and emotions:
⭐ "An enchanting, realistic account of what it means to share life and love with a pet... Simply gorgeous illustrations young readers will relish. Highly recommended for young dog lovers." - D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
⭐ "With humor and kindness, this book normalizes the cycle of life and creates space to talk about grief." - Dr. Cheryl Arutt, Clinical & Forensic Psychologist
⭐ "A great way to have conversations about loss." - Karla Contreras, Elementary School Teacher
⭐ "This book is a wonderful reminder that we can talk about our grief - and that sharing it is a vital part of healing." - Sylvia Wenninger, LMFT
Perfect for:
- Children grieving the loss of a dog
- Parents explaining pet death to a child
- Families coping with pet loss and grief
- School counselors, therapists, and librarians
- Dog lovers searching for comforting grief books for kids
- Social-emotional learning classrooms and family discussions
Featuring a loving two-dad household portrayed naturally and authentically, One Last Snoot Boop reflects the diversity of modern families while centering universal themes of unconditional love, remembrance, belonging, and healing after loss.
A comforting keepsake for anyone who knows that dogs are never "just pets."
