Add to basketSimon Lazarus was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he paved roads and worked on construction with his friend, Bill Pulski. Bill Pulski's wife was headed to the Olympics. This would prove to be very unfortunate.
Officer Olan Oliveria was focused on providing security for the Olympics and intercepting jewel thieves. It might have been quite successful if it hadn't been for the bats.
Ivana Carvalho, the youngest Minister of Health in the history of Brazil, was counting down the days until the tourists of the Olympic Games returned home and she could focus on the emerging bat problem. As it turns out, this was a rather reckless misjudgment.
General Hunter Wallace Wertheim the Third had two objectives - protect the visiting President of the United States at the Olympic Games and control the outbreak of a mysterious bat-borne illness. He would do neither, despite being quite capable and not at all spineless.
Narrated by the Writer, we follow the story of seemingly innocuous people and the events that lead to the end of the world. The apocalypse has never felt so real as we enter the world of bats, sickness, and the last man in Cleveland.
A thrilling and poignant novella from up and coming author Danny O'Dea, The Last Man In Cleveland will keep you reading until the very last sentence. This refreshing addition to apocalyptic fiction is filled with vibrant and relatable characters as we explore the intricacies of the human race and the quiet devastation of loss and grief.
I was so taken by this novella from new author Danny O'Dea and his complex look at grief and loss - the quiet apocalypse when we lose a loved one. O'Dea writes in such a way that even the hardest of topics are easily addressed and understood. His writing style is reminiscent of Lemony Snicket, offering a touch of nostalgia from my youth. This charming and deceptively intriguing novella is the kind of thing I will read over and over. It's an easy read with vibrant characters written by an author who clearly has a passion for what he is creating. For a debut work, this is refreshingly creative and I look forward to O'Dea's future work. - Ravven White author of I Am Ravven and The Cry of The Ravven
The Last Man in Cleveland by Danny O'Dea will leave readers entranced by the various stories he weaves with a diverse range of characters. Each character drives the narrative into a gripping and terrifying apocalyptic work of fiction. Readers, prepare for a wild ride in which Earth's civilization is collapsing and terror seeps into the fate of humanity. This is a tale that will leave readers in deep thought, reflection, and awe. - David Grinnell author of Ashes
