Can they survive the last, long night of the Civil War?
The power of the Union army brings the South to its knees in surrender, but not until a year of intense pain and violence creates a chasm that may be impossible for the country to bridge. Carrie struggles to hold on to hope as the world caves in around her, hanging on to the promise she’s been given.
Moses is gravely wounded in battle, while Rose continues to thrive in the Contraband Camp and finally has a dream come true.
Robert’s plantation suffers a severe loss but is saved from total destruction by a very unlikely source.
Aunt Abby faces danger as she gets more deeply involved with women’s rights, and spends time in Washington, DC.
Volume # 5 of The Bregdan Chronicles continues the sweeping saga that now encompasses the final year of the American Civil War.
Review: Simply put: These books are amazing. I cannot put them down. Especially The Last Long Night. l I read the entire book in one sitting (and that is an accomplishment considering I'm a full time RN, homeschooling mom, and back in school full-time!) The characters are so well developed with such multifaceted traits, each one of them is endeared to my heart.
I also appreciate Ginny's writing style being so detailed. She is committed to the historicity of the Civil War. Ginny's efforts researching each key political and military figure bridges the gap of time. My four kiddos are still <10, but in no time, these books will certainly be part of our literature curriculum! Thank you, Ginny!!
Review: I waited to give a review until I had read the first 5 books. I am struggling to find appropriate words to describe the awe I am in, and I find myself failing miserably. I absolutely could not put these books down. I would finish one and immediately hop online to go get the next one - sometimes in the wee hours of the morning, when my tail should have been asleep. The writing style of this author brings you right into the story as if you are a part of it. She has an amazing talent to capture the imagination and bring you right into a virtual reality.
Thank you Ginny Dye...not only for an amazing journey, but for those God and light bulb moments throughout each book, that reached beyond the pages, and made their home inside the soul. What can I say overall? Well, let me put it like this: these books are like... "Gone with the Wind" meets up with "Eat,Pray,Love"; then whispers some "Secret life of Bees", forges some "Steel Magnolia's", and at times, wraps itself with the "Color Purple." Sigh. Did I mention how much I loved these books?
Review: I have never written a review about anything before...anything! Until today... I just finished the 5th book in this series, and I must say it has completely taken me, my thoughts, feelings and emotions on a great ride.
I have become addicted to this series. I feel like I'm leaving a real live event waiting in some kind of magical suspension of time until I open that book again. I think about the characters throughout the day and try to figure out what will happen.
Ginny writes with such clarity and description that I feel as if I'm right there in the story with them.
I felt anxious as the war came to a climax and an end. I laughed out loud, I became worried in some places, and I cried... a lot...at the end. WOW!!! As I closed the book, that's literally all that came from my mouth several times. I'm here talking to myself and just in awe of this series. WOW!!! Just WOW!
My dream now would be for this series to become a motion picture series. If you love history, drama, romance, chivalry, and stories of hope and endurance then this is for you. You will not be disappointed!!
In the meantime, I'll read EVERY new book!

About the Author
Ginny would love to get to know every single person who reads her books. Since that isn't possible she can at least let you get to know her a little. Born in North Carolina, she is a wanderer at heart. She has lived all over the United States, exploring every state and having wonderful adventures along the way. She has managed horse ranches in Texas and Oregon; worked with teenagers all over the country (she love them!), and has hiked, biked, rafted and played in every locale she could.
She loves all the beaches, deserts, woods, and mountains she has traveled through but when she discovered Washington, she discovered home. Her heart is at home there with the snow covered mountains; the glistening waters of the Pacific; the eagles and Orca whales; the towering fir trees surrounding her home; and the miles of trails on her own Magic Mountain.
Everywhere she looks inspires her to be all she can be - to follow and achieve all the dreams of her heart! She managed to write and publish 16 books along the way. She enjoys writing many different genres but admits Historical Fiction is her favorite. She is quite sure she will never live long enough to write all her heart and mind holds, but she certainly intends to try!
She is also the Founder of Millions For Positive Change. This fabulous organization is committed to creating a world-wide community of people with a passion to make a difference and live their best life - using the multitude of FREE resources provided.
Her life will forever be a journey. She knows she will never get to the place where she thinks she has "arrived". The more she learns - the more she knows she doesn't know! Yet. what joy she receives by sharing the light she has... She would love to hear from you at BregdanChronicles.net
