Item description from seller

Foreword by Donald C Johanson. 256pp, illustrated throughout in color and b/w, maps, Afterword by Meave Leakey, two appendices, index. Papered boards, with a lightly bumped lower front corner, in dust-jacket. Using a 'Dissection in Reverse' technique successive layers of muscle, glands, skin and hair are added to ancient fossil skulls to re-create the faces of extinct human ancestors. The narrative combines docudramas that imagine a day in the life of each of the featured extinct humans, with succinct accounts of what is currently known about the anatomy, behavior, habitat, and place of each hominid species in the family tree. Size: 4to.
