For decades, selling was a human game.
Relationships mattered. Judgment mattered. The best sellers knew how to read a room, navigate an organization, earn trust, and move a deal forward when the playbook stopped working.
Then the agents arrived.
**The Last Human in the Deal** is a field guide to what happens next.
Part memoir, part sales philosophy, and part blueprint for the agentic era, this book follows a career forged across the front lines of technology—from the early web and Adobe, through Microsoft and enterprise selling, to the emergence of artificial intelligence as something far more consequential than another productivity tool.
AI is becoming an active participant in the deal.
Agents can research accounts, identify opportunities, analyze conversations, prepare meetings, generate proposals, coordinate follow-up, navigate buying committees, and increasingly act on behalf of both sellers and customers. Tasks that once defined the craft of selling are rapidly becoming automated, delegated, or compressed.
That doesn't make the human seller irrelevant.
It makes the remaining human moments more valuable.
Through stories from the field, hard-earned lessons, and a practical examination of AI-native selling, **The Last Human in the Deal** explores the new division of labor between people and intelligent agents. It examines what should be automated, what should be augmented, and what should remain unmistakably human—especially when trust, ambiguity, risk, creativity, negotiation, and judgment enter the room.
This isn't a book about adding AI to yesterday's sales process.
It's about recognizing that the process itself is changing.
The next generation of great sellers won't win because they can do everything an AI agent can do. They'll win because they know what to delegate, when to intervene, where human judgment creates disproportionate value, and how to become indispensable at the moments that actually determine the outcome.
Because in a world where almost everyone in the deal may eventually have an agent, the competitive advantage may come down to something surprisingly simple:
**Knowing when to be the last human in the deal.**

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
