Add to basketA story about finding love at any age, One Last Dance is the delightful tale of Morgan, aged 89, and Dixie, 79, two mature individuals on seemingly divergent paths. Despite their disastrous first meeting, complete with a ruined birthday cake, broken eyeglasses and insulting remarks, it was obvious to bystanders, even then, that the two were fated for each other. The book follows the relationship of Dixie and Morgan, as they begin to date and ultimately decide to move in together - for economic reasons, they agree. But the business-only relationship changes and strengthens as the couple unites to combat illness, scandal and a near-fatal accident. It's also a tale about how insecurities, humiliations and fears, thought long past, can haunt a person throughout his days. Dixie fears intimacy. Morgan has concealed important details about his divorce, his estranged children, and his lost job. When a mysterious stranger, a grandson Morgan has never met, bent on vengeance for past wrongs, invades their lives, he becomes a catalyst, reconciling Morgan with his estranged Chicago family and eventually bringing Dixie and Morgan the love and pride they'd lost decades before with the loss of their children.

Advance Praise for
ONE LAST DANCE: It's Never Too Late to Fall in Love
"The secret to eternal youth--as One Last Dance shows with eloquence,
grace, and unsentimental wit--isn't exercise or Lipitor but falling in
love--and it's never too late."--Ralph Gardner, Jr., The New York Observer
"Loved the book! The characters are fun and true, the events are real and
often scary, and the humor is lovely--very heartland, very human. It's a
wise, real, good-humored book."--P.M. Carlson, author of Deathwind
"One Last Dance is a rollicking good read. In the portraits of Dixie and
Morgan, readers of a certain age will recognize picture-perfect portraits
of themselves--and find it difficult not to laugh. At the same time, this
very well written novel provides younger readers with a real insight into
why "seniors" think and act as they do. This is one of those rare books
which truly brings the generations together." Albert Ashforth, author &
Professor of English, Fashion Institute of Technology
Praise for Mardo Williams' memoir of his mother, Maude (1883-1993)
"Mardo Williams brings out the extraordinary in a seemingly ordinary
century's worth of experiences in his fine biography of Maude."--Leonard
Lopate, New York & Co., National Public Radio
"Because he was patient with the details, the scenes, the landscape of
character, [the author] came away with an engaging and fascinating work
about a courageous woman whose story truly ought to be shared..."--Mike
Harden, The Columbus Dispatch
