The Larger Catechism was designed by its authors to supplement the Shorter Catechism. It presents a full, balanced, and edifying summary of the Christian faith, suitable for those who have attained some level of spiritual maturity. It expands and clarifies the teaching found in the Shorter Catechism and Confession of Faith and focuses on the outworking of that teaching within the Christian community. This compact edition is ideal for individual or group study. 'Today, churches face a greater educational task than they have done for several centuries. Pastors are often looking for useful, effective study materials. In response to this need the church must reclaim its great educational resources from the past. The Larger Catechism is a neglected tool the church needs today to help believers develop vital and balanced Christian faith and life.' -- W. ROBERT GODFREY

About the Author
The Westminster Assembly of Divines, first convened at Westminster Abbey in London, 1643, was a group of ministers and laymen charged to reform the liturgy, discipline, and government of the Church of England; to promote church unity between England, Scotland, and the Continent; and to clarify and revise the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion of the Church of England. Over the course of five years, committees of the Assembly met and developed a set of documents that would become the touchstone for sound doctrine, cherished by generations of Christians as a well-honed summary of biblical truth.
