Print on Demand. This book traces the evolution of German novelist and poet Gottfried Keller's 1877 masterpiece, Der Landvogt von Greifensee, from its inception in the true story of Salomon Landolt, a quirky bailiff whose life became the basis for the story's protagonist. By examining Keller's source material, the author reveals an intriguing process of adaptation and fictionalization. The book also provides a nuanced analysis of the novel's themes, including the central motif of a bachelor's assembly of all his former flames. The author demonstrates Keller's skillful fusion of history and imagination, unveiling the profound insights into human nature that make this novel an enduring work of Swiss literature. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
