At thirteen, Lexie Everwood notably enjoys her family life and adores her best friend, Shannon.
But her life starts to fall apart when her mother abruptly leaves. Being an only child, Lexie looks for solace at the lake just steps from her front door. But as Lexie struggles to understand her changing world, the lake leaves her feeling abandoned and alone, and she embarks on a dangerous path of promiscuity. Once in college, and finally out of her small town, she meets and falls in love with Trey Whitmore, but not long after, her past comes crawling back to haunt her and jeopardizes her future. Will Lexie spiral more out of control, or will she find the answers she needs to understand who she is and why she made a life-changing mistake?
