For generations, the people of Balwhither Glen have kept a secret: on the first of May, when the veil thins between the worlds, the magical loch reveals your one true love. But in a world with media and tourism, no secret is safe forever.
"Delightful, charming, and heartwarming." —New York Times bestselling author Wendy Higgins
After two broken engagements and a career in shambles, Anna Cameron escapes to the Scottish Highlands to help her aunt organize a festival around the magic of the Sighting. She expects a change of scenery, a chance to breathe. What she finds instead is a place that burrows into her heart—and a landowner and single father whose predicament will upend her plans.
Connal MacGregor has spent ten years hiding his daughter from the scrutiny that followed his famous wife's death, raising his wounded child in the shelter of the glen. The festival the village wants will bring visitors and publicity—exactly what Connal's been desperate to avoid.
As the day of the Sighting approaches, Anna struggles to bridge the two sides and two different worlds. She finds herself falling not only for the warmth and magic of the glen, but for the man who has tried so hard to keep the modern world at bay. Yet as family secrets surface and danger threatens, she and Connal discover that knowing whom you're meant to love doesn't always produce a happily ever after.
In the Balwhither Glen, love at first sight is the beginning of the story.
Award-winning author Martina Boone offers readers a warm, atmospheric romance filled with found family, gentle magic, and the enduring pull of the heart—perfect for fans of Sarah Addison Allen's magical women's fiction, Julie Shackman's Scottish village escapes, Jenny Colgan's heartwarming Highland communities, and Susanna Kearsley's atmospheric sense of place.
