Your child was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Now what?
Suddenly, there’s a whole lot to figure out. New words to learn, numbers to understand, supplies to carry, and a whole new set of rules to follow. And while you’re trying to figure it all out, your child may be wondering something much simpler:
“Can I still be me?”
That’s the question Lainey is trying to answer, too. When she is diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, she worries that everything will change. Will she still be able to have fun with her friends? Do the things she loves? Most importantly, can she still just be Lainey?
As Lainey tries to figure that out, an unexpected adventure is about to begin. It all starts when her Granny gives her a magical wooden spoon—and suddenly, Lainey is off on an adventure in Paris!
Along the way, she learns something important: having Type 1 diabetes doesn't mean she has to stop being Lainey. She can still have adventures, make friends, try new things, and dream big.
Lainey’s Type 1 Diabetes Adventures was written especially for children living with Type 1 diabetes—and for the parents figuring it all out right alongside them.
If you’re looking for a book that helps your child feel less alone, gives them a character who understands what they’re going through, and opens the door to conversations about living with Type 1 diabetes, Lainey’s story is a great place to start.
Perfect for children with Type 1 diabetes, newly diagnosed kids, siblings, parents, and teachers—and for anyone who wants a child with diabetes to know that Type 1 may be part of their story, but it doesn’t get to be the whole story.
Come along with Lainey on her very first Type 1 diabetes adventure!
