Every book in Ladybird series 678 begins with the following quote - Mathematics is a discovery of relationships and the expression of the relationship in symbolic (or abstract) form.practice is necessary to fix a concept, once it is understood. Therefore practice should follow, not precede discovery. - a truly inspiring quote to start this brilliant series which is all about basic arithmetic! Children make their own discoveries about numbers, especially in real life situations. Numbers aren't met in isolation from language or experience. Give the gift of numbers to any younger reader and they too will experience the joy of learning and the thought process behind being able to figure things out for themselves. If you learned your own maths with this series, maybe revisit it and see what you can remember! Fully illustrated throughout, any vintage Ladybird book is a wonderful gift to give and receive.
