Lady Sysonby has revised this new edition with a special eye to present shortages, which she holds are no excuse for unattractive food. She says she has not tried to turn it into a war-time book, but she has added many dishes that she has tested herself and found successful during the past seven years. There are practical recipes for soups, fish, meat and birds, vegetables, puddings, cakes, savouries, sauces, sandwiches, and drinks.
