xvi, [4], 715pp, [1], 8pp of publisher's advertising, bound in original black cloth, with gilt decorated spine (gilt still bright), marbled endpapers, marbled page edges all around, head and tail-pieces. Includes frontis with tissue guard intact, additional engraved title page, with illustrations throughout. Includes Ladies of England, Scotland and the Netherlands. Covers show loss to upper edge of backstrip (into the title), front hinge starting, binding is tight, occasional foxing (mostly on preliminary pages). Ownership on half-title. SCARCE.
