Paperback. Dr. Alexander Golbin is a neuro-psychiatrist. He is the author of three monographs and numerous publications on behavior, sleep and psychosomatic disorders. He is a recognized expert in the treatment of sleep disorders, stress, and disorders of the immune system, a specialist in clinical hypnosis and an international lecturer in the field of neurophysiology of emotions, and sleep pathology in children and adults. Dr. Golbin is rightfully credited with developing innovative treatments and inventing a number of medical devices. The ability to combine the skill of a doctor with the talents of a writer is not a new phenomenon in Russian literature. Suffice it to recall the names of Anton Chekhov, Vikenti Veresaev and Mikhail Bulgakov. This book written by Alexander Golbin, MD, a practicing psychiatrist, continues this noble tradition. When patients find themselves in a doctor's office they know that they must be truthful because the correct diagnosis and proper treatment depend on the information they provide. This is neither the place nor the time to conceal any secrets! Stories by doctors, endowed with literary talent, are all the more convincing and compelling because they are true to life. Dr. Golbin's book not only acquaints the reader with unusual medical dilemmas, innovative approaches to illness and methods of treatment but also uncovers unique twists in the destinies of his patients. Through the stories of his characters, Alexander Golbin uncovers the symptoms of social problems and offers a diagnosis to the dysfunctions of society, bringing to light some hidden aspects of American life.
