STORY
John Grimsen catches unique entities for The Lab, and after two years of being out and in our base reality on an "Just sort of do your thing and send us stuff" kind of mission, he realizes he misses his old partner, Sabine, too much and needs to return to The Lab so he can see her. He rings a bell and wakes up back in The Lab where outside his door is an infinite series of skyless hallways that contain, behind glass, every unique thing that has been captured for The Lab.
His search for her is not easy, as Lab Coats get in his way to ask him questions about things he's done, an ancient rock monster who used to be a monk in a different time wants to fight him, work requirements threaten his very existence, and old friends who always want something demand his attention.
Through out all this and worse, John keeps his cool. It ain't his first rodeo. However, something is different from the last time he was in. All that other stuff is par for the course, but the level of lethality seems suspect. Will John survive it all?
Meanwhile, Dr. Ambower is living her best life. She has assumed higher responsibilities and is taking them quite seriously. There's lots to do so she's busy and happy. She's staying fit, keeping up on all the latest, and taking time to mentor the other Lab Coat's, like Dan Tesla, who recently was brought into The Lab after he accidentally turned a swarm of flies into a hive mind. Good job Dan! Now you live here.
To add onto the "It's all turning up Dr. Ambower" pile, she even has direct communication with Director 5, which is quite woefully rare for a Lab Coat.
It's all going smoothly until John Grimsen shows back up.
This is a story for those who enjoy playful writing, deep detail, sentences within sentences, and earnest horror.
