First India Paper edition. Octavo. Publisher's black cloth, lettered gilt to the spine, to the upper cover is an illustration by Tolkien of a Numenorean throne, with "Elendil" set in Tengwar to the centre, in gilt, silver and green. Housed in the original publisher's slipcase. Two folding maps of Middle-earth printed in black and red, and a single-page map of The Shire. A very good copy in a good slipcase. There are some marks to the covers, and some slight sunning to the spine. Internally there is foxing at the beginning and end of the book. Slipcase rubbed. An attractive copy of the India Paper edition of The Lord Of The Rings, with the three volumes and 1,100 pages presented in a single, deluxe volume. Seller Inventory # 2178
