She has twenty days to save her mother's life.
Elena Vance is out of time. Out of money. Out of options. Her gambling father has vanished, leaving behind a mountain of debt and a team of ruthless collectors who won't take no for an answer. They've given her an ultimatum: pay what her father owes, or lose everything-her mother's medical care, her freedom, her life.
With her mother's surgery looming and nowhere left to turn, Elena answers a mysterious job listing at a remote mountain lodge. The pay is impossible. The location is isolated. The owner is a ghost-a man locals whisper about but never see. A man they say is dangerous.
She doesn't care. She'll take anything.
He has ten years of darkness he can't escape.
Cole MacIntyre wants to be left alone. Scarred by war, haunted by the ambush that killed his entire team, he's spent a decade hiding from the world in his mountain fortress. He doesn't want company. He doesn't want connection. He doesn't want to feel anything ever again.
He definitely doesn't want the desperate, beautiful stranger who shows up at his door in the middle of a storm, asking for a job she has no business taking.
But she's not leaving. She's stubborn and brave and she sees past his scars to the man beneath-the man he thought he'd buried long ago. And against every instinct, he lets her stay.
When a blizzard traps them together, the walls come down.
As the snow piles higher and the nights grow colder, two broken souls discover something neither expected: understanding. Acceptance. A connection that defies every reason it shouldn't exist. She teaches him that he's still capable of feeling. He teaches her that she doesn't have to carry her burdens alone.
But the collectors are still coming. The past is still hunting them. And when the truth about Elena's father surfaces-a secret far darker than simple debt, a conspiracy that reaches into the highest levels of power-they'll have to decide if the love they've found is worth fighting for.
Because some roads lead to ruin. And some lead home.
She came to him with nothing. He gave her everything. Now they'll risk it all for a chance at forever.
