8vo. 8.5 x 5.5 inches. xi + [i] + 492 pp. + 16 pp. advertisements. Errata in red printed at foot of p. xi. Bound in original Green cloth, with gilt block on front board. Spine sunned with with wear and small chips at head and tail. Light foxing and browning of flyleaves and title page, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by black and white photographs, 242 numbered text figures and by 22 footplate photographs and diagrams in Appendix. Well illustrated technical manual on the maintenance and operation of railway locomotives. By James Thomas Hodgson (1867-1939), revised by Charles Sidney Lake (1872-1942), railway engineer and journalist on the Railway Gazette (Grace's Guide website). Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields. We also offer a bookbinding and restoration service. Visitors to the shop are welcome and we exhibit at UK book fairs.
