6 5/16" x 8 1/4", unpaginated, blue cloth with pictorial paste-on with titling to front board, color illustrated endpapers. A Near Fine copy of this sought-after Black Americana title (Black dialect) featuring the title character and Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Robin, Br'er Possum, Br'er Jay Bird, Br'er Guinea Hen, and Br'er Partridge. Cover plate and interior illustration still with strikingly brilliant color. This is a superbly preserved copy with no writing, soiling or major wear. See photo enlarged. Pages are bright and unmarked except for a few surface blemishes on the margins of two pages. Back board has some light spotting (lighter than the blue of the cloth), the spine has some light soiling, and there is light wear to the corners and spine ends. Otherwise a Fine copy.
