About the Authors:
Michael P. Chaney is a professor in the Department of Counseling at Oakland University. A Licensed Professional Counselor (MI, GA) and an Approved Clinical Supervisor, he has demonstrated competencies working with LGBTQ clients in residential inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities, community mental health and substance use disorder agencies, and transitional recovery housing. His identities as a gay, cis male strongly influence his clinical and scholarly passions.
Michael D. Brubaker is a professor and associate director of the School of Human Services at the University of Cincinnati. As a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor - Clinical Supervisor (OH) and Nationally Certified Counselor, his research addresses barriers to treatment and prevention services among underserved and socially marginalized populations. These interests are shaped by his personal and professional journeys as a gay, White, cis male, as well as his family and spiritual communities.
