Print on Demand. This book examines the changing nature of the state and public service in France from the 17th century to the present day. The author argues that the traditional concept of the state as a sovereign entity has been eroded by the rise of democracy, and that this has led to a rethinking of the role of public servants. The book explores the different ways in which the state has been conceived of over time, from the absolute monarchy of Louis XIV to the democratic republic of today. It also examines the changing relationship between the state and its citizens, and the implications of this for the way that public services are organized and delivered. The book concludes by arguing that the state is not a static entity, but rather a constantly evolving concept that is shaped by the political, social, and economic forces of the time. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
