About this title

Synopsis:

Natural history and art have been life-long preoccupations of the leading British painter Kurt Jackson (b.1961). For this book, Jackson has returned to zoology, the subject he studied at university, to create a beautiful bestiary: a body of work about fauna. Combining stunning imagery with commentaries and poems written by the artist, the book boasts fascinating insights into Jackson's working life, and makes a perfect companion to both Kurt Jackson (2012) and Kurt Jackson Sketchbooks (2012/2014).

About the Author:

British artist Kurt Jackson's practice involves both plein air and studio work and embraces an extensive range of materials and techniques, including mixed media, large canvases, printmaking and sculpture. He has been Artist-in-Residence on the Greenpeace ship Esperanza, at the Eden Project and at Glastonbury Festival since 1999, and is an Honorary Fellow of St Peter's College, Oxford University. Dr Charlotte Mullins is an art historian, writer and broadcaster. Her current project, Picturing People, a book on contemporary figurative painting, is due to be published in 2015. Lord Krebs is a zoologist with a particular interest in ecology and behaviour. He has enjoyed a distinguished academic career and is currently Principal of Jesus College, Oxford.
