Synopsis:
This volume of the "Wiener Jahrbuch fur Theologie" of the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna is dedicated to the topic of "War and Peace". It is based on a panel discussion on the same topic that took place at the faculty in 2023. The topic was triggered by the large-scale war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine that began on February 24, 2022, and unfortunately continues unabated to this day. Meanwhile, the Gaza war has been added, which threatens to spread to the entire Middle East. Thus, the topic of the panel discussion is not only still relevant today, but has become even more urgent. The contributors in this volume examine the topic of "War and Peace" from a biblical, church historical, systematic theological and religious education perspective. In addition, the volume contains contributions from current research projects by members of the Protestant Theological Faculty.
About the Authors:
Leonard Jungwirth ist ordinierter Vikar in der Evangelischen Kirche A. B. in Österreich und Universitätsassistent post doc am Institut für Kirchengeschichte, Christliche Archäologie und Kirchliche Kunst der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Wien.
Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Ulrich H.J. Körtner ist Ordinarius für Systematische Theologie an der Evangelisch-theologischen Fakultät der Universität Wien, Vorstand des Instituts für Ethik und Recht in der Medizin der Univerisität Wien und Direktor des Instituts für öffentliche Theologie und Ethik der Diakonie in Wien.
Siegfried Kreuzer ist Professor Emeritus für Altes Testament und Biblische Archäologie an der Kirchlichen Hochschule Wuppertal. 2011 bis 2022 war er Herausgeber des Journal of Septuagint and Cognate Studies (JSCS).
Dr. Elisabeth Naurath ist Professorin für Evangelische Theologie mit Schwerpunkt Religionspädagogik und Didaktik des Religionsunterrichts an der Universität Augsburg.
Thomas Scheiwiller studierte Geschichte, Geographie und Evangelische Theologie in Bern, Tübingen und Wien. Er ist Prae-Doc Assistent am Institut für Systematische Theologie und Religionswissenschaft der Universität Wien.
