Neuware - Debt collectors are counting on you not knowing the rules. This book makes sure you do.Every year, collection agencies break federal law calling people who don't owe them, threatening actions they can't legally take, and reporting debts that were already paid or never existed in the first place. Most people don't fight back, not because they're wrong, but because they don't know what the law actually allows. This guide walks you through exactly what the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act protects you from, how wage garnishment and bank levies actually work state by state, and what a collector legally cannot do no matter how many times they say otherwise. You'll learn how to dispute an error on your credit report the right way, when a 'zombie debt' is already past its legal collection window, and how to tell a real collection notice from a scam built to look like one.Includes sample dispute and validation letters you can send today, a state-by-state quick-reference for garnishment limits, and a directory of free legal help and enforcement agencies who handle real complaints.Written in plain English. No legal background required. Verified against federal and state law as of August 2026.If a collector has ever made you feel like you had no options, this book is where you find out you had more than you thought.…
