Item description from seller

The vanishingly scarce second edition of this illustrated guide to artful knot tying. The vanishingly scarce second edition of this work. Illustrated with two hundred and seventy-four in-text figures. A methodical treatment of both basic and fancy knotting, including braided ropes, common whipping, splicing, hitching and more. Written by Chas. L. Spencer. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. The odd mark to the cloth. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Good.
