This book tells the interesting story about a social fraternity which existed at The Citadel beginning in 1883. Social fraternities, also known then as secret societies, were banned at the military school. Nevertheless, the Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order grew and flourished from 1883-1890. In the face of strict regulations,it then went dormant until 1920, when another chapter of K.A.O. at the College of Charleston began initiating cadets from The Citadel. That effort ended in 1924. Finally in 2008, Theta Commission of Kappa Alpha Order was formed. It now has over 1,000 members and is a vital part of Kappa Alpha Order. Cadets become initiated members the same day of their graduation from The Citadel.
