This is the second printing of the first Cardinal paperback edition, featuring "A collection of eight stories, long and short." In addition to the title piece is the all-time classic, "The Birds," as well as "The Little Photographer," "Monte Verita," "The Apple Tree," "The Old Man," "The Split Second," and "No Motive." 345 pages + one-page advertisement for Reader's Digest. Slight spine roll, a hint of wear to corners/spine ends, moderately tanned. An uncommon edition that, because of its age, will require extra attention if you plan to read it, because rough or even careless handling may see you holding a bunch of no-longer-bound pages (the advice from this quarter: put it straight into the collection, and find a less-good copy to read -- or forget entirely about buying this one, and just get a reading copy to satisfy your literary curiosity; the gods of the vintage paperbacks will thank you). Size: 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall.
