Jahrhunderts.

"What a strange family we are! You will later write books about us - not just about individual of us". noted Klaus Mann in his diary in 1936. He should be right. Never has the interest in Thomas Mann and his own been greater than today, and there is - as this book impressively shows - still much new to discover. The picture book "The Children of Mans" is dedicated for the first time to all six children of Thomas and Katia Mann: from the eldest, Erika and Klaus, to the 'middle', Golo and Monika, to the latecomers Elisabeth and Michael Mann.
The family album begins with Erika's birth in 1905 and ends with Elizabeth's death in 2002. The span therefore ranges from the beginnings of childhood spent together in Munich to the 'wild' years of the Weimar Republic, the time of emigration from 1933 and the difficult epoch after the Second World War to the recent past. "The Children of Mans" documents an extraordinary family history - and at the same time presents a panorama of the 20th century.
