Print on Demand. This book introduces pre-readers to foundational reading skills and English vocabulary and grammar, and provides interactive material for classroom activities with a heavy emphasis on phonics and repetition of key words and phrases. It is a primer for teaching children how to read using a series of delightful stories about the adventures of two children, Bob and Betty, and their friends Rab the dog, Tab the cat, Father and Mother, and John and Jean. The stories depict the children playing, working, studying, and taking part in the most common activities for children of the period, including games like hide-and-seek, peekaboo, and drop the handkerchief, as well as making toys, learning the alphabet, and celebrating Christmas. The stories are written in a simple conversational form, with the children talking to each other, asking their parents questions, and participating in dialogue with one another. This book is a valuable tool for teaching children basic reading skills and vocabulary through the medium of engaging interactive stories. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
