From the Author
41 yrs. of mgmt. experience (State Farm Ins.), 4 yrs. past cancer, 3 yrs. past retirement, KYLO offers the formula to help each one stay focused, encouraged and enthused on personal and career goals. Each individual is responsible for who he or she is and where he or she is going. I interweave into the book my own story of how I struggled to find my way. Born in poverty, losing my mother when I was 7, a high school teacher in Freeport, Tx. helped me put my life together. For the past 10 yrs. I've given KYLO as a professioanl speech across the U.S. and Canada. The response has been enormous. My nationlal surveys show that keeping a sense of encouragement, overcoming disappointments is the #1 challenge facing people of all ages, incomes, locations. KYLO empowers them to focus in their strengths (lights) from their past, their present and their future. Endorsed by Wendy's Dave Thomas and Univ. of Tennessee Women's Athletic Dir. Joan Cronan. Early buyers are returning for multiple-book purchases, giving them to family members, people in their "balcony", recent college and high school grads. Hundreds of letters to the author attest that the KYLO message changes people's lives. The book is dedicated to my balcony people, those who have made it possible for me to be on a journey of personal growth. John Powell, with 19 books in print wrote the introduction. He was my literary mentor for years. Meeting him in Chicago in 1993 was a monumental moment in my life. He encouraged me to write the book, helped interest the publisher in it. Stay focused, encouraged, and enthused (yes, you must pay the Fee) to be all that you can be. Life is indeed wonderful -- so long as we keep our lights burning bright -- not only so we can better find our way, but so that those who are following us will better find their way. Tom Gunnels, Knoxville, TN.
