Edition: 1st ed.,Condition remarks:Book: Very good Jacket: Very goodPages: Good Markings: Signed with inscriptionCondition remarks: Inscribed on rear endpaper. A landmark work in Australian political memoir, Keep the Bastards Honest chronicles the remarkable life and career of Don Chipp, the charismatic founder of the Australian Democrats, whose rallying cry became one of the most iconic phrases in the nation's political history. With candor and conviction, Chipp details his journey from Liberal Party minister to the architect of a third-party movement that reshaped the balance of power in the Australian Senate throughout the late twentieth century. The narrative presents a passionate argument for accountability, transparency, and the vital role of a political conscience in a system too often dominated by the major parties. Written with the directness and wit of a man who never shied from controversy, it offers an intimate portrait of Australian democracy from the inside - its compromises, its failures, and its enduring promise. Essential reading for anyone interested in Australian politics, this memoir stands as both a personal testament and a broader call to civic responsibility.…
