About the Author
M. G. Stephens (Michael Gregory Stephens) is author of over 30 books, including such recent ones as the novel King Ezra, about the later years of Modernist poet Ezra Pound, and as the result of which Stephens has become persona non grata in Italy by the current regime of the Meloni government. His novel Kid Coole, a boxing novel, completes The Coole Trilogy, the other two books being Season At Coole and The Brooklyn Book Of The Dead. Another one of his recent books of stories, Come On, Eileen, continues the Coole family saga, this time about Eileen Coole, an Irish poet who marries a Black jazz musician and political activist, forcing them to flee America in the 1960s, and wind up living in Algeria for 20 years. Stephens has published 12 books in the last six years, including the hybrid book of poetry and stories, History Of Theatre Or The Glass Of Fashion, about an out of work actor who lands the part of Hamlet. His recent poetry books include Popeye, Unchained, Sixmilebridge, Late Autumn By The Lake (short poems), Ornithology, and Hobo Haiku. He is author of the recent (2025) memoir, When Poetry Was The World, and is a past winner in creative nonfiction from AWP for his book of essays, Green Dreams. Stephens is author of the travel memoir Lost In Seoul (Random House). His play Our Father ran on Theatre Row (42nd Street) for over five years, and has been produced all over the world.
Archie Rand is an artist whose six-decade career has produced stained glass, murals, illustrations and over 100 solo exhibitions. His paintings and graphic works are in major museums and collections worldwide. Frequently collaborating with poets and texts, he is the author of the best-selling book, The 613 (Penguin/Random House, 2015). Awarded numerous honors he is a Guggenheim Fellow and had served as Chair of the Columbia University Department of Visual Arts. He is currently the CUNY Presidential Professor of Art at Brooklyn College. Recent published works include Blood Moon with Anne Waldman (Freight & Volume, 2022), Single Occupancy with Lewis Warsh (Cuneiform Press, 2023), The Seventeen: Iron Flock (HUC/Skirball Museum, 2024) and Popeye, Unchained with M.G. Stephens (Spuyten Duyvil, 2025).
