Second printing (first published July 1927). [14], 236 pages. Hardcover: H 19.25cm x L 13cm. White dust jacket heavily soiled and stained; 3cm loss at spine head with shallow chipping at heel with several tears and slight paper loss near center; front flap detached; several small chips and short tears along panel edges; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Gray cloth with red decoration and dark blue lettering upon both spine and front board; mild curl to front board. Edges and endpapers toned. Mild moisture staining evident at margins of several initial and terminal leaves. Dialect novel with Preface by the author and five b/w illustrations (including frontispiece) on unpaged plates all credited to McK. R. Long, i.e. McKendree Robbins Long, who earned fame for his later religious themed surrealistic painting style. Dj front panel states "second edition" in contrast to "second printing" as specified upon copyright page; dj spine heel gives the publisher's locale as Mount Holly, North Carolina as opposed to the Lowell, North Carolina imprint provided upon the title page. A good+ copy in a poor dust jacket. {LitShelf #1|CMS-02377}.…
