They’re thirty cursed coins—the silver Judas was paid to betray Christ. Scattered across the world and lost for centuries, each one carries a terrible legacy of blood and disaster.
Now someone is trying to gather them all up.
Senator Preston Draken is charming, powerful, and secretly a fanatic bent on triggering the apocalypse. With supernatural powers granted by the coins he already possesses, he’ll stop at nothing to collect the rest and remake the world in his own twisted image.
Enter Trey Jordan: world-class thief, expert relic hunter, and a man with his own haunted past. Captured by Vatican agents and forced to choose between prison and an impossible job, Trey has to do what he does best—steal. Because the Vatican needs him to find the Judas Coins before Draken does.
From crypts in Ireland crawling with reanimated corpses to ancient vaults deep beneath the Vatican itself, Trey will have to outwit rival treasure hunters, deadly mercenaries, and his own ghosts. Along the way, he’ll uncover holy relics, cursed artifacts, and the truth behind history’s worst catastrophes.
But the coins have a mind of their own—and they don’t let go easily.
Judas Silver is a pulse-pounding supernatural adventure full of danger, history, and black humor—perfect for fans of Indiana Jones, Dan Brown, and Clive Cussler who want their treasure hunts with a dose of horror.
What readers are saying:
“I purchased this book primarily due to the reputation of the author, J.R. Rain. It was an awesome read! It included adventure, danger, love, and religion. I could not put it down until the very exciting ending!” —Amazon review
“I’m a 72-year-old J.R. Rain fan. It started with The Body Departed, which I found to be different but most interesting. I moved on to The Lost Ark, which I loved. Then Judas Silver. I loved this book. It was a most interesting take on what happened to the 30 pieces of silver given as the price to betray Christ. It held my interest through all of the travels in search of the pieces of silver. And the end left you wondering if there will be a follow-up. For someone who wants to read entertaining books, J.R. Rain is your man. I have now read all nine of the Vampire for Hire books plus the short story collection, and all of the books about his male detectives. They are all good, entertaining reads.” —Amazon review
“It’s a little Indiana Jones and a whole lot of fun. I was completely able to visualize the scenes as they were described and experienced ‘edge-of-my-seat’ moments along the way. With expert direction and special effects, I could see this being an incredible blockbuster movie.” —Amazon review
“A wild ride! This book was originally written as a screenplay and it really feels like you are reading a movie! I kept visualizing every ‘scene’ as if I were watching it on the big screen. I kept thinking ‘they could really do some crazy special effects!’ I was holding my breath most of the time! It was a great adventurous ride!” —Amazon review
“Great fun! I couldn’t put this down. It’s a fun, quick read. I could see an Indiana Jones-type guy as the hero. Good, fast-running plot and an interesting twist on the concept. The ultimate good versus evil! This would make a great action/adventure flick.” —Amazon review
“Judas Silver is another fine example of J.R. Rain’s storytelling magic. J.R. puts so much thought and research into his stories that the characters and locations are larger than life. The main character has so many endearing qualities and faults that I can’t help but love him. I really enjoy all of J.R. Rain’s works.” —Amazon review

**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone.
