This memoir offers a vivid and candid account of life on the California Trail in the mid-19th century. Written by a young Ohio lawyer who joined the famous Steubenville Company in search of gold, it details the challenges and adventures of the journey westward, including encounters with Native American tribes, treacherous river crossings, and the agonies of thirst and hunger. Along the way, Dundass reflects on the meaning of his experiences and the lessons he learned during his transformative journey.
