Journal of Further Explorations in the Kuru Region - Dec 25, 1963 - May 4, 1964 This is the travel/field diary by Daniel Carleton Gajdusek, the 1976 Nobel laureate who identified kuru as a transmissible prion disease. The journal records his expedition from Dec 25, 1963 - May 4, 1964, covering the Kuru region and Kukukuku country in the Eastern Highlands of Eastern New Guinea (Papua New Guinea) plus a return visit to West New Guinea (Irian Jaya).
