Item description from seller

Joseph Park has been included in over thirty group exhibitions over the last two decades, and was the subject of solo museum exhibitions at the Frye Art Museum, Seattle, WA and at the Portland Art Museum, Portland, OR. Park received the Neddy Artist Fellowship Award from the Behnke Foundation in 2005; a postcard book of his anime-inspired paintings, I Am Yours, was published by Chronicle Books in 2011. His paintings are in the collections of the City of Seattle, Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and numerous private collections nationally. Park was born in 1964 in Ottawa, Canada and received a BA in 1988 from the Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle, and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), Valencia, in 1990. Now a U.S. citizen, he lives in Seattle with his wife and two daughters, and is currently represented by Elizabeth Leach Gallery, Portland and Rena Bransten Gallery, San Francisco. Toby Kamps joined The Menil Collection, Houston in September 2010 as curator of modern and contemporary art. Some of the exhibitions Kamps has organized at the Menil include: âThe World is Not My Home: Danny Lyon Photographs,â âSilence,â and âWols: Retrospective; â âHaim Steinbachâ is forthcoming. Toby arrived at the Menil with a wide range of experience, including time at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, to which he brought national acclaim with such exhibitions as 2008âs âThe Old, Weird America,â a study of folk themes in contemporary art that received the Best Thematic Museum Show award from the International Association of Art Critics USA. He also worked at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, where he co-edited the comprehensive catalogue raisonnà of conceptual artist Bruce Nauman. Toby holds a B.A. in German from Bowdoin College; pursued postgraduate studies in art history at the Kunsthistoriches Institut, Freie Universitat, Berlin; and earned an M.A. in art history at Williams College.
