"This new edited collection of the works of Jonathan Edwards (1703-58) is the most important recent addition to the continued study of American Puritanism. It is the first significant effort in decades to provide scholars with a workable cross-section of Edwards' written work. It is a sampling of a Yale University Press multivolume collection which, upon completion, will be the definitive and comprehensive Edwards collection. . . . Lest one be tempted to dismiss this collection as relevant only to the intellectual historian or student of philosophy, it is important to note that Edwards' work speaks to many contemporary concerns."--Glenn A. Moots, Northwood University, The University Bookman

This affordable paperback edition of an earlier Yale University Press publication provides not only an accessible introduction to Edwards' best known works, but also affords glimpses of his personality and character through his diary and personal correspondence."--The Southern Baptist Journal of Theology

"This new anthology of writings by Jonathan Edwards offers a rich and judicious selection of Edwards's most important contributions to American intellectual history. It is clearly the finest collection of Edwards's works ever assembled in one volume."--Allen C. Guelzo, Harvard University
