Print on Demand. This book presents a record of debates between Republican Governor Stewart L. Woodford of New York and Ohio's Democratic candidate Thomas Ewing regarding monetary policy during Ohio's 1875 political campaign. The debates primarily center around the resumption of specie payment as a means of returning the country to the gold standard following the Civil War. The author provides historical context for the debates, exploring the complexities of monetary policy and its impact on the nation's economy and society. The book offers insights into the challenges of post-war economic recovery and the ongoing struggle between proponents of hard and soft money. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
