Your job may be over, but you are not.
Whether you step away by choice, are pushed out, or find yourself in that in-between where things look fine but feel unsteady, you are in the right place. This book is a guide to the deliberate work of reshaping identity, purpose, and momentum after your job ends.
Sometimes the change is planned. Sometimes it is not. Either way, the question that follows is often the same:
Who am I when my job is over?
You may have planned carefully, yet still feel unsettled. Work has shaped your identity, your structure, and your sense of direction. When that structure loosens, many people discover that while they expected financial change, they did not expect the personal one.
What do you do with your days?
Where does meaning come from now?
How do you stay relevant, connected, and purposeful?
This is not a book about financial planning or job search tactics. It is about what comes next in your life.
Drawing on real experiences and practical insight, this book helps you:
Move beyond identity tied to your role
Make sense of uncertainty
Reconnect with what matters now
Build momentum with intention
If you are standing at a career inflection point, planned or unexpected, this book is for you.
This is not an ending.
It is a beginning.

About the Author
Earlier in her career, she held executive leadership roles in global technology companies, including Vice President of Global Operational Excellence at Avnet. In these roles, she led global, large-scale transformation initiatives, including merger integrations and complex operational change where execution, adoption, and leadership behavior are critical to success.
With a background as both an engineer and an MBA, Derinda brings a distinctive blend of analytical rigor and human insight to her work. She is a certified professional coach and served for over a decade as an executive instructor of Change Management for Prosci, a global leader in change management.
Her work centers on a core belief: results are shaped by clear, aligned strategy, and strategy only matters when it is adopted and delivers outcomes. She is known for translating strategy into results by aligning purpose, process, and plans, and for guiding people through transition with clarity, confidence, and momentum.
Through her coaching and change management work, she began to see a consistent pattern: highly capable, successful people struggling with what comes next after the end of their career. This insight led her to focus more deeply on the human side of that change and ultimately to co-author "Your Job Is Over, You're Not!". a guide to navigating identity, purpose, and momentum after a career ends.
Terry Cain is a culture and customer experience leader, author, speaker, and co-owner of Pinwheel Partners. He is the co-author of "The Pinwheel" and "Your Job Is Over, You're Not!" and brings more than 30 years of Fortune 500 experience leading global customer engagement, culture transformation, and service organizations.
At Avnet, a Fortune 500 technology solutions company, Terry held senior leadership roles including Vice President of Shared Business Services and Vice President of Global Customer Engagement. His work focused on building customer-driven cultures, strengthening employee engagement, and aligning behaviors with strategy to deliver consistent results. He believes people are the catalyst for meaningful change.
Through Pinwheel Partners, Terry helps leadership teams turn culture into a driver of performance by aligning leadership behavior, employee engagement, and customer experience. He believes culture is not an initiative―it's how strategy is experienced and delivered.
