ISBN 9783888148866. 'Jim Rakete. Photographien 1970?1997' is a comprehensive retrospective of nearly three decades of work by the German photographer Jim Rakete. The publication brings together an impressive selection of portraits of musicians, actors, writers, filmmakers, artists and other prominent figures who have helped shape German and international culture since the 1970s. With an introduction by fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, the book showcases Rakete?s exceptional talent for capturing the personality of his subjects in powerful, understated black-and-white images. Alongside familiar faces, the volume also features photo essays from the worlds of music, film and art, creating a visual chronicle of European pop and cultural history from the final quarter of the twentieth century. Jim Rakete (Berlin, 1951) is one of the leading German portrait photographers of his generation. He began photographing the Berlin music scene whilst still a teenager and later worked for a short time as a manager for artists including Nina Hagen and Nena before devoting himself entirely to photography. His distinctive black-and-white portraits of artists, musicians, actors and politicians have appeared in leading magazines worldwide and have been exhibited in international museums and galleries. The foreword is written by Peter Lindbergh (1944?2019), one of the most influential fashion and portrait photographers of the twentieth century. (AI-generated content description).…
