xx, 685 pages. 28 x 22 cm. All edges are gilt, and a century ago real gold was used, and it looks it. They didn't use the fake gold you usually see nowadays on some books. With long pullout map of New york City indicating sites of Jewish interest. Countless illustrations. Still has the glassine map, in pristine condition, facing the title page. Boards' hinges a bit loose but holding. Leather spine has seen better days. A great work of 19th century scholarship not superseded by contemporary encyclopedias.
