Christians often say, "Come as you are." But what happens when someone actually comes carrying addiction, shame, sexual brokenness, anger, prison history, doubt, or a life that makes respectable people uncomfortable?
The Jesus Way asks the church to look again at the way Jesus treated broken people. He ate with them. He touched them. He protected their dignity. He listened. He told the truth. And He called them to follow Him. His grace never pretended sin did not matter, but neither did His holiness require sinners to become clean before they could come near.
Across twenty-four chapters, Darren Wayne Penrose traces a biblical pattern from the character of God to the ministry of Jesus and then turns the question toward the church. What happens when Christians reverse the order of the gospel and demand visible transformation before offering meaningful relationship? What changes when grace becomes the beginning of obedience rather than its reward?
The message is simple, but demanding: Love comes first. Transformation follows. Purity is the response to grace, not the price of admission. Presence before correction. Relationship before transformation. Grace before obedience.
And one question remains: When broken people encounter us, do they encounter the heart of Jesus?
